[xa'zaz], Chajim, hebräischer Schriftsteller, * Sidorowitschi (Ukraine) 16. 9. 1898, ✝ Jerusalem 24. 3. 1973; lebte seit 1931 in Jerusalem. Seine oft satirischen, sprachlich durch Wortschatz und Anspielungen auf jüdische Traditionsliteratur anspruchsvollen Romane und Erzählungen zeichnen die Umwandlung des traditionellen Judentums, z. B. in der Schilderung der Auswirkungen der Oktoberrevolution auf die osteuropäische Kleinstadt oder der Anpassungsprobleme jemenitischer Juden in Israel.
